it's gone for the moment

My website is not live right now, it is being redesigned and moved to a new hosting company.  So it is gone but not for long-I do hope! And when it returns it will not look like this at all. I built this last one using iweb which was a fun program and easy and intuitive for me. Apple is no longer supporting iweb so I'm working with Wordpress now and hope to get a new look up and soon. Farewell to that welcome page, we won't see it again.

Peaceful evening on the lake

Dinner of fresh walleye at a local eatery in this part of Michigan. I sketched the wildflower bouquet on our table while we enjoyed a peaceful evening.

A few days away

We are visiting friends in Michigan with a cottage by a lake. A few days of rest for me between the installation of the show and the reception. I sat out on the end of the little dock to look back at the cottage and make a quick watercolor sketch.

this one won't make it

I have another lily painting, oils, 48x48 on canvas that I've been trying to complete in the month of July for this "Consider the Lilies" show. It is not close to completion at all, still in process. Very much still in process.

installation day process

Some photos of the installation process of the new show "Consider the Lilies". I had lots of help from my husband, my son, my daughter, and many dear St. Mark's friends.

the show before mine went up

St. Mark's Episcopal Church, along with having a beautiful building, is also dedicated to incorporating art with worship. I wrote about being amazed and inspired when I viewed this show last year. Called "Icons in Transformation".
The recent show was also icons interpreted by a Chicago artist, Joseph Malham. He is the resident artist at St. Gregory the Great Church in Chicago. (Wouldn't it be the coolest to be a resident artist in a great church.)
There is a story in the Chicago Tribune about his art here.

the show goes up

the show goes up

Today we are installing my art for the "Consider the Lilies" show.  My art will be displayed in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The church was built of stone in 1949 in the Gothic Revival style. I have always loved this building, the Gothic style is my favorite type of architecture for a space of worship. Maybe it is all that time studying art history? Or is that I was privileged to visit England and France and see the most beautiful Gothic cathedrals in the world?
I also love this church for the worship space and the church family within. Our children were all baptized in this place, and two of my children were married here.

just about used up all my Cadmium yellow

Fresh off the easel. Oil on canvas, 36x48. Sold already as a commission but the owner is allowing me to display it as part of my upcoming show.
