Today I decided to paint the same shell that I painted yesterday but on a bright blue background and flipped over to view the other side.
I also changed it up by switching my light source from left to right. That made an interesting contrast and then I noticed that the shell had quite different stripes on its other side. Who knew? I thought it was perfectly symmetrical and the stripe pattern would look the same on both sides.
An interesting effect was to study the reflective bright blues on the somewhat shiny patina of the shell.
