Monday February 15, 2021. Another snowstorm today. I had this composition set up for my all prima for the day. A favorite blue and white bowl with a Chinese dragon, and a funny looking satsuma orange all on a green napkin. To make the snack complete I threw in a handful of almonds. I put almonds in the bowl and tossed three on the foreground area. I arranged the composition and started a rough lay in of the colors before I went to bed the night before. During the night I dreamed of painting, of thick strokes of gooey colors. When I woke up my first thought was that the three almonds in the foreground were wrong, there should be four. It was Chinese New Years this past weekend and four is the lucky number.
